Who Are Millennials?

Individuals who were born between 1981 - 1996, who are today between the ages of 24 and 39.

Why We Are Doing This

Millennials have been ridiculously mischaracterized as lazy and self-absorbed. This couldn’t be further from the truth. This generation has demonstrated it collectively understands the importance of connection and service at a much younger age than the we ever did as Generation X or Boomers. The 10U40 recognitions, themed issue of RM, and special awards event are Roswell Magazine’s way to share with you how inspiring these young professionals are to us.

In order to celebrate, connect with and engage local Millennials, we conceived of a plan:

>AWARDS recognizing them

The 2019 Roswell Magazine 10U40 recognitions are loosely modeled after Atlanta Business Chronicle’s annual ‘40 Under 40’ honors. We accepted nominations of high-achieving individuals under the age of 40 who lived and/or worked in Roswell. From these nominations, a panel of 4 judges determined the final 10, who were deemed 2019 top 10U40 (announced to the press and through social media on 3/5/2019.) The 10 received a lot of local, professional exposure and were celebrated at an awards cocktail reception on March 21, 2019. View Photos from the Event by Tracy Hoexter Photography

> issue of Roswell MAGAZINE About Them (<click)

ALL ABOUT THEM - We love Millennials; so we like to mess with them by using cliches inaccurately attributed to their generation. “All About Them” is an issue of Roswell Magazine devoted to covering young local professionals who are making impacts professionally or personally in our community. Issue #24 of RM (publishes March 12) is our “Young Professionals” issue> A special event for them.

150 guests -- including the top 10 (view the winners bios), their guests/spouses, the rest of the nominees, sponsors, select community leaders and business owners, as well as other select professional ‘under 40’ Millennials in Roswell - attended a celebratory cocktail (invitation only) reception from 5 - 8pm on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Naylor Hall at 1121 Canton Street catered by Talk of the Town and flowers by Blooming Hites Floral Boutique. {#10U40, #roswell10} - We honored Friends of Mimosa Hall and to Gigi’s Playhouse at this event with podium time and are presenting donations to each of them in April.

Re-think local ROI

Speakers: Regina Barkley (Local Life Publishing) & Ryan Pernice (RO Hospitality)

November 12, 2018 | Crazy Love Coffee House | 11:30am - 1pm

The Harvard Business Review found (in this report) that ad campaigns with originality and high artistic merit delivered double the impact on sales. They concluded businesses should redirect a significant portion of their budgets to develop more creative ad campaigns, spend less on buying into the false security of number of impressions and clicks.

As a local business owner, how can we re-evaluate the meaning of ROI, be intellectually honest with ourselves and admit relying on analytics alone misses the all-important emotional connection our messages can make with our customers. Read more…
